Nya Jacobs

From a young age, Nya Jacobs always had her hands in anything creative. Born and raised in
Washington D.C., the noise of the city and the culture of her community influenced her creativity.
Nya attended Duke Ellington School of the Arts, where she picked up a pencil and discovered
her passion for writing. She wrote characters who jumped off the page in sci-fi worlds or
unfortunate scenarios, always basing her stories on personal anecdotes and family members.
Nya graduated from Loyola Marymount University, where she received the Michael Peters
Undergraduate Screenwriting Award for the class of 2022. Never losing her voice or identity as
a black woman, Nya continues to create stories that bring a sense of wonder without ever
sacrificing her roots.
