April kimble

Originally from LA (lower Alabama), April Denise Kimble is a charismatic “woke assassin” and comedy writer with big auntie energy. April grew up a middle child in a family often described as “The Black Brady Bunch” (minus the white privilege). She starred in the Heard Elementary School rendition of Ghostbusters II, and as the only Black child in her class she obviously starred as the Black dude, Winston. Using her upbringing and the countless instances where she has since experienced workplace discrimination, April turns her pain into laughter by writing single-camera dramedies about her hardships as a queer Black neurodivergent woman. April’s work earned her accolades as a finalist and semi-finalist in ScreenCraft, Roadmap Writers Jumpstart, The Coletta Preacely-Garcia Diversity Fellowship, and Barnstorm’s Short List. With her advanced degrees from The University of Alabama and George Mason University in early childhood education, she worked as a director at the National Association for the Education of Young Children and PBS Kids education team. This led her to also write risque children’s comedies such as Poly on the Playground. April’s unmatched obsession with the timeless classic series The Golden Girls propelled her career as a host of the first-ever Golden Girls Convention and as a digital creator with her internet comedy skits where she stars as The Black Blanche.
