Kafi began screenwriting around 2009 as an MFA candidate at American University’s (AU) film programme. During her time at AU, she wrote for two episodes of NBC4 web series ‘Stage Fright’ (2010), which won an LA Web Series Fest Outstanding Comedy Award. One of ten producers featured on the Caribbean Flow 1 network reality show ‘Me on My TV,’ Kafi created ‘Big Man Dan,’ (2019) an adult animated comedy web series, which won a CaribbeanTales Big Pitch award. ‘Big Man Dan’ screened at over eight festivals across the Caribbean, Africa and the United States. Kafi went on to write two episodes of the Lion Forge Animation and Nine PBS Mid-America-Emmy-award-winning animated kids series, ‘Drawn In’ (2023). A lifelong musician,singer and songwriter, Kafi is currently developing an animated musical titled ‘The Caddy Club,’ a project which won the Caribbean Film Mart best pitch prize and was featured in Animation Magazine. She first joined the Organization of Black Screenwriters in 2013 and is incredibly excited to be welcomed back into the OBS community.
