OBS Script Development
 

“Our Goal is to Develop Great Writers.”  In keeping with that goal, OBS has provided an affordable method for the aspiring pro to develop his or her skills.  Submitting a feature film or TV script to our readers for coverage will aid you in preparing your work for fellowship programs, contest, and/or to take a industry meeting.  The goal is to create opportunity for the writer to market said script or secure an agent or pitch meeting.

 

WHAT CAN BE SUBMITTED…

 

OBS will provide coverage for the following types of writing:

 

Television

Pilots (Single & Multi-camera)

            ˝ hr. comedy

            1 hr. drama

         

Spec Scripts (Single & Multi-camera)

            For current programmed shows only.

            ˝ hr. comedy

            1 hr. drama

 

Film/Screenplays

All genres: Adult, Pre-teens, romance, Sci-Fi, period, mystery, crime, children’s, etc. 

All submitted scripts must adhere to Industry standard for page count not to exceed 125 pages.

 

Stage Play

All submitted scripts must adhere to Industry standard.

 

Animation

All submitted scripts must adhere to Industry standard.

  

TYPES OF COVERAGE…

 

LEVEL I Basic Coverage ($125/$145) – Summary notes will be provided to give the writer a guide to improving your format, structure, idea, and characters, story plot, theme, and detailing specific areas for improvement.

Level II:  Analyzed Coverage ($175/$200) – Writer must submit both a hard copy and an electronic copy of the script.  A page-by-page analysis that will include everything mentioned in Levels I, as well as, grammar, spell check, and punctuation, marketability, and overall improvement strategy.  In addition, you will receive suggestions for Loglines and mini-synopsis.

Level III:  Professional Consultation ($350/$400) – Writer must submit both a hard copy and an electronic copy of the script.  You will receive everything covered in Levels I & II as well as up to 30 minute Private Consultation with an Industry Professional assigned to your submission, to discuss your notes and expand upon any questions you may have.  (You must be in Los Angeles for face-to-face meeting.  Out-of-State will be done via telephone call).   This of course requires special appointment with the professional based on their schedule.   

COST OF COVERAGE

 

LEVEL I Basic Coverage (Member: $125/Non-member: $145)

LEVEL II:  Analyzed Coverage (Member: $175/ Non-member: $200)

LEVEL III:  Professional Consultation (Member: $350/ Non-member: $400)  

 

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES…

 

·    If writer desires script to be returned, include SASE (self-addressed stamped with correct postage) envelope.

·    Scripts sent without proper return postage will be recycled.

·    Scripts that reflect industry-standard screen or teleplay formatting are strongly recommended.

Once your script is received and assigned to a reader you’ll receive a confirmation letter via email letting you know the approximate turnaround time of the coverage.  At Level I, standard turnaround is fourteen (14) working days (excludes Saturday, Sunday, and holidays).  Level II, turnaround is 21-working days.  All other turnaround time varies based on genre.
