There are multiple ways to nurture your craft and grow as a writer ...

Script Development

“Our Goal is to Develop Great Writers.”  In keeping with that goal, OBS has provided an affordable method for the aspiring pro to develop his or her skills.  Submitting a feature film or TV script to our readers for coverage may put you – the writer – on track to have your manuscript developed by “Friends of OBS.” Friends of OBS are industry professionals who share the vision of our organization.  They may be current TV story editors, Creative Executives, or professional screenwriting teachers.  When a script receives a “Recommend” through Levels I & II of our development process, the writer will benefit from having OBS prepare your script for introduction to the industry. Script Library

OBS is creating a Script Library. Members in good standing will be able to borrow film and television scripts to read and analyze, or simply enjoy. The location and borrowing guidelines are still being finalized, but you can help make the library a reality by donating any of the following types of scripts:

  • Scripts of feature films that have had theatrical release within the last 10 years.

  • Longform television scripts (i.e., movies for TV such as "Boycott" or "10,000 Black Men Named George") that premiered within the last five years.

  • One-hour and half-hour TV scripts of shows that are currently on the air (i.e., "Arrested Development," yes; "Sex and the City," no).

  • TV pilot scripts bought/ordered by networks within the last year.

Please bring any scripts you're willing to donate to the next OBS meeting. A list of all the scripts in the library will be published on the OBS website, along with instructions on how to check scripts out. (Also, please note that due to copyright considerations, there are no plans to make the scripts available in a digital format.)
