OBS ON TOUR - Virginia is going to be at Mid Atlantic Black Film Festival.  We're also judging their Script Contest Portion.  Workshop will take place on October 8 & 9.

 

Submission Open—June 8, 2010

Regular Deadline—August 13th / $30 per screenplay

Extended Deadline—August 27th / $40 per screenplay

Final Deadline—September 3rd / $50 per screenplay

Semi-Finalists Notifications: September 13th

Finalists Notification: October 8th

Winners Announced: October 9th (MABFF Awards Ceremony)

Eligibility Rules:

* Screenplays must be written/co-written by an African or African-American writer and/or deal with some

significant aspect of the African/African-American experience.

* Scripts are judged on story, structure, character development, dialogue & presentation by industry

professionals and the leadership of the Organization of Black Screenwriters.

* Original scripts or scripts based on articles, short stories, novels or plays are acceptable.

* Screenplays must be on white ’20-lb paper, numbered at the top right corner of each page, bound with

two ‘2-inch brass brads, and must not exceed 120 pages in length.

*Cover page must include writers name, address, phone number, email, and Copyright and/or Writers

Guild of America registration number.

* Entry fees must be paid by a money order or cashier’s check ONLY. No cash or personal checks.

Entry fee MUST BE stapled to your submission form.

* Screenplays, submission form and entry fee should be sent to: Screenplay Competition, MABFF, 3717

* Do not send your original script, send a copy. Scripts will not be returned.

* Screenplay must also be sent in a Final Draft file to mike@mabff.org.

* Writer (s) can make multiple submissions, but a new submission form and entry fee must accompany

each new submission.

* Failure to comply with these rules may result in the disqualification of your submission.

 

 

Honors/Awards:

* Twenty (20) Semi-Finalists will be notified by September 13th.

* Ten (10) Finalists announced at OBS On Tour TV/Screenwriting Workshop October 8.

* Winner will be announced by the President of the Organization of Black Screenwriters at the MABFF

Awards Ceremony on October 9th.
