Zelie Dember-Slack has been accepted into the Diversity Fellowship Program at NATPE’s LATV Festival.  Congratulation Zelie, we know you do well in the program and it will take you to the next level.

Bridgett Lawrence & Kimberly Allen were both asked into the Writer’s Room as finalists in the selection of writers to join Tyler Perry’s “House of Payne”.  This is a direct result of Kellie Griffin’s visit to OBS and call for submissions.

And as a result of the writer’s room participation Bridgett Lawrence has been asked to submit a script for an episode!  Way to go Bridgett!

We are so proud of our OBS members.  Keep writing, keep submitting, keep participating in those writer’s groups, keep submitting to Script Development… keep, writing, and writing, and writing it can happen for you!

On Sunday, May 11, 2008, Doug Jackson was one of the featured panelists on Samm Brown's FOR  THE RECORD KPFK Radio Show; a weekly hour show on the "behind-the-scenes" of  the film/TV and recording industry.  The panel was on screenwriting called, "The Craft of Writing For Movies &  Television".   Doug did a wonderful job representing OBS getting the opportunity to let everyone know we exist.  Since the interview we've received several inquiries and we've been asked to do an entire hour on Samm Brown's FOR THE RECORD in July.

Special OBS Congratulations to Michael Ajawe for being named a HBFF Storyteller Finalist for 419 by Michael Ajakwe of Los Angeles, CA -- Third World Internet scammer tricks an unsuspecting, lonely White American male into falling in love with his Internet alter-ego - a beautiful Nigerian princess - and then convinces the dupe to bring her/him to the United States. It's about the American dream and how some people will do anything to live it. It's "Coming to America" meets "Trading Places".
