BLOOD AND THUNDER
Moving Arts - Hyperion Station
1822 Hyperion Avenue
Los Angeles, CA 90027
Through February 28, 2010

By popular demand, the new play “Blood and Thunder” extends its World Premiere engagement into the new year. Come see this Ovation Recommended new work!

Set in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina, “Blood and Thunder” tells the story of Marcus, a con artist whose latest plan to ride out the hurricane in his Lower Ninth Ward apartment is interrupted by an unwanted visitor, forcing him to face both the flood waters and the ghosts of his past.

Terence Anthony, playwright, is a recipient of the Bill Cosby Screenwriting Fellowship.  A member of Moving Arts and the Dramatists Guild, he was artistic director of The Car Plays 2009. Mr. Anthony is the writer-director-producer of the animated series “Orlando’s Joint.”  Previous credits of Sara Wagner, director, include “Lettice and Lovage,” “Jake’s Women,” ‘Debutantes Anonymous” and “Choke.”

The cast of “Blood and Thunder” includes Candice Afia (the sweetheart of the 2009 hit play “Bronzeville”), Keith Arthur Bolden (a previous NAACP Theatre Award nominee) and Tony Williams (a member of the popular Fake Radio Troupe).

Produced by Cece Tio, Co-Produced by Steve Lozier, Set and Lighting Design by Jorge I. Velasquez, Sound Design by Jason Duplissea, Fight Choreography by Caleb Terray.

In the intimate Hyperion Station, the original block-box theater where the 17-year-old Moving Arts company began, no seat is too far from the stage, conveying a special immediacy for a live performance venue. It’s a great venue for the tense, suspenseful story that is “Blood and Thunder.”

The Reviews are in for BLOOD AND THUNDER!

LA Weekly "GO"
"While the audience perches practically in the living room of [the] realistic dingy set, with the rain hammering down, the tension is as thick as the storm clouds we imagine overhead."

LA Times
"Director Sara Wagner uses Moving Arts’ intimate space to turn the claustrophobic screw."

Backstage
"Tautly written... excellent performances..."

WehoNews
"The show is highly recommended to serious theatre goers who love good, intense, well-acted drama."

Campus Circle
"Watching this candid production of intensely played characters is a fascinating experience...Powered by a gradual process of tense revelation, “Blood and Thunder” is exquisitely acted and tremendously moving."
