Before you spend your cell phone bill or gas money trying to be the next grand prize winner of one of the many screenwriting competitions, why not collect some prizes along the way? The Organization of Black Screenwriters presents a chance to win as you take your idea from concept to polished script with a series of contest in 2010. It all starts with the affordable and potentially very rewarding logline contest. Enter as many of your best loglines as you want at only seven dollars per entry or save and enter ten loglines for $49.50. The winner of The 2010 Logline Contest will get a free entry into the next step, the OBS Treatment contest, which will be followed by the OBS Story Beat contest and finally the 2010 OBS Screenwriting Contest. The Grand Prize winner will also get an HD Flip Camcorder, The latest edition of Final Draft Screenwriting Software, and Free entry into the OBS Screenwriting competition and a shot at meetings with some of Hollywood’s top producers. Second Place will receive free entry in the OBS Treatment and Story Beat Contest, and gift certificate to use for Movie Ticket Purchases at Fandango. Third Place will receive free entry in the OBS Treatment Contest and a chance at more prizes in the future. RULES I. The Organization of Black Screenwriters (OBS) is a non-profit organization committed to the development of screenwriters through education and opportunity. By entering the contest you accept that your logline, concept, may be reviewed by others and release OBS, it's board, members, and affiliates of any liabilities that result from the normal review and execution of contest management. II. All submission in the logline contest must be submitted before midnight pacific time, April 23, 2010. Any submissions received after the deadline will be automatically disqualified and no refund granted. III. Writers will not receive individual feedback on their entries in the logline contest. IV. There is no maximum number of entries; however, all entries must be paid for in advance. Save your receipt and ticket number as evidence of your proper compliance with this condition. V. Feature Film and Television Pilot Concepts will be considered equally in the logline contest. No separate categories are implied nor will there be distinct prizes awarded in categories for film and television. The best loglines will be chosen by a team of judges consisting of senior OBS members, guest reviewers, and OBS Board members. VI. Entries must be less than 150 words and should satisfy the industry standard for a logline. Entries exceeding the maximum word count or clearly falling outside of industry standards will be disqualified and no refund granted. VII. Winners will be notified no later than May 30, 2010 and posted on the OBS website at http://www.obswriter.com. VIII. The contest is open to anyone 18 years of age and over. All entrants must abide by all submission rules and conditions, without exception. IX. The Organization of Black Screenwriters reserves the right to extend or shorten the entry period, based on the number of responses. X.
